Evidence of new tree damage in Grove Woods

A member of SMAG has taken these shots of tree damage done by the owner's workman this week. Surely this must be against the law given the blanket tree preservation order that now covers the woods. There is also photographic evidence that this activity is almost certainly disturbing the otters but we won't publish those pictures here in order to protect their location.

Thank you for the posting.

Gary Hopkins and I have had the following officer response today (Sunday), "I will ask my team to visit to site tomorrow and get back to you by close of play."

Good news that someone is going to have a look.

There is no full ecological survey of the woodland by the landowner and no management plan in existence and the area next to the river that has been strimmed is known to be very sensitive because protected species are often there.

This activity demonstrates the contempt with which the landowner regards the habitat provided by the woodland.

More evidence that the owner feels he can act with impunity. Probably a step too far this time I fancy...

The council have sent an officer to the woods to investigate. He has confirmed that damage has been done to a list of trees and saplings and they are pursuing the matter.
