Jafari and co try to sneak in containers to Grove Wood

Have a look at this! Rhino Group Ltd have applied to Bristol City Council to fell three trees in Grove Wood. Deep in their application to the Council is also an application to site two metal containers in Grove Wood, see below.

They claim that the containers are needed to carry out forestry work in the woods. Could it be a coincidence that Jafari is in Court again next week to try to overturn the Council's decision to remove his Permitted Development Rights in Grove Wood? That'll be a no then.

We are in contact with the Council on this matter and as soon as we have clarification over whether this application is legitimate, we will advise people over what they can do prevent this from happening.

Thanks for keeping us informed. I've been regularly walking in Snuff Mills since becoming aware of the group and the beauty would be ruined if this ridiculous permission isn't rescinded. Great work!

So who was this local resident who was photographed interfering with logs and cautioned by the police? More lies from Mair and Co?

I must say I have never heard of a log being interfered with...ha ha

This is the first I've heard of someone being cautioned for interfering with logs in Grove Wood.

I would think the police have better things to do.

Well done for spotting the small print! This is just what we should expect from the Rhinos in the Wood. In order to get 40ft containers on to the top path (subject to an application to be made into a Public Footpath Ref ID3/685) much damage would be caused to the terrain and habitat en route to their resting place. 3 months seems a timescale plucked from the realms of fantasy - once in position those containers would be there for some considerable time I'm sure. If such comprehensive facilities are required, that would suggest quite major works, a van/landrover would normally suffice for the kind of operation mentioned in the application.

The log accusation is obviously a red herring. The questionable credibility of this bunch couldn't get any worse. Come on BCC, do your stuff and get this land into safe hands and stop shilly shallying.

Bristol City Council have informed us that they will write to Rhino Group Ltd and explain that they cannot get permission for the metal containers by applying to cut down trees. They need to put in for planning permission for containers.

They will also make it clear that any acceptance for the felling of any trees does not mean the Council tacitly supports containers going in to the woods.

Thanks for the clarification Steve. The council must make sure that this is clearly understood from the outset because we know from past experience that once breaches of the regulations/law occur in Grove Wood they are difficult to correct. It's taken much effort from the council and campaigners and a lot of wasted public money to sort out the many problems we've had to endure so far and we really don't need any more. BCC please get this land purchased and made into a nature reserve before any more damage is done.

And now we learn that BCC will allow J's servants into the woods with chainsaws. This will certainly be the thin end of the wedge, with plenty of collateral damage being caused too. Shame on you Bristol City Council.
